RYE Pier
A great realaxing dive, with a good variety of sea life
excellent for training or refresher dives or simply enjoying.
Todays dive included seahorses , rays , birds crabs, blemmies and lots of fish.
Dive Buddies JJ, Andrea and Peter
ok often think diving is like flying maybe this bird does too!
Saturday diving
A great day of diving with Lynne, Simon and Craig
First dive the grotto on lonsdale wall, the afternoon a lazy rye dive with almost perfect conditions
Blairgowrie Pier
Another great dive on a nice calm summers day
Buddy is JJ and entry is from the pier rather than beach
so we can spend more time on the breakwater
A good pier that offers a good way to use up residual air after a boat dive, plenty to see from seadragons to rays. Easy accesss via the pier and walkway, don't forget the portsea pub for lunch afterward.
Castle Rock
Just outside the heads past lonsdale arches
Nice dive 18m with a couple of bommies filled with fish life , including Weedy Sea Dragons, Rays and Crays.
Day was a bit too rough for a totally enjoyable dive, and the shallow depths tends to still feel the surface wave actions.
Scantum reef
(wall boat dive )
A very good deeper dive (20-30 meter range) along the lonsdale wall
Lot of soft coral, variety of fish life and interesting rock formations including swim throughs
Day was terrific for diving with good vis 19c water and little wave action on the surface.
Portsea Hole
(50th birthday dive)
Portsea hole a nice little boat dive just off the Portsea pier.
(too rough for planned wall dive)
depths start at 15 meters down to 25 meters or sand after that)
Good sponges and variety of fish,
Vis can sometimes be varied but today was very good 15m.
(With a very sandy bottom a little disturbance can introduce lots of sediment to deal with in photos)
- Started the dive with a semi drift on the outgoing tide around to the point, very nice way to avoid the lines, finished back to the top of the pier and then down.
Ex HMAS Adelaide
Terrigal NSW
a very nice bayside town with lot of other diving around but this weekend was all about the Adelaide.
Only down months , life and growth is is limited
But site is an easy 5 minute boat ride, Terrigal dive very helpful
A few camera issues limited photos and video work. Video is reasonable
The trip departed on Seadragon, from Frankston Pier at 1 pm ish and from here it is not far to the first dive site. The dive sites are the Isis yacht wreck in 10m, the second dive a Wirraway Plane wreck in 18-20m and the third the Uralba wreck – an auxiliary minefield tender, in 14-18m.
Dives really to do once , experience what the top of the bay is like so you can then enjoy diving toward the heads, but know you have at least done it once. The wrecks are not that great with the plane wreck almost totally un recognizable. But as they it half about the diving and half about the company and the company was great!
