Ricketts Point Night Dive

Ricketts Point

Night Dive with Simon Kay at Ricketts Point. went out from the actual point toward the bouys on an incoming tide.  waves increased from gearing up to entry and throughout the dive.  making it a difficult dive with surge and lower vis, we ended the dive after 50 minutes when we realised we were at 9 metres! which at rickets mean you are a long way out!. the surface swim home then proved to be more difficult than normal due to a rip (which is why i think we ended up so far out). Still a good evening of diving is always refreshing!.

Ricketts Night Dive

Ricketts Night Dive

A night dive after work, great conditions for night diving , flat seas, no wind, almost summer temperatures.
Entry tonight was near the point itself, from the beach which is a nice walk in , shallow as it was low tide but still ok and much safer than the rock entry points further north..  Great diving with Craig and Simon Again. Nice fun with an eel.

Fist time tested the new camera setup, nearly floats , but not much in it, but lots more practice to be done!!

dive time 60+ minutes
max depth 3.4 meters

Ricketts Point Night dive

Ricketts Point Night Dive

On Australia day evening , what better way to celebrate than a nice night dive at a local spot.

Night dive with Simon Kay at ricketts point but this time up at the slsc end ,entering via the right hand side of the beach out to the markers turning right to the second marker and then back in to arrive at the right hand side.
night life was minimal although a few schools of small fish were attracted to the lights making seeing much else harder.

Ricketts Point Night Dive

Ricketts Point Night Dive

Nice easy dive at Ricketts Point, with Simon and Graeme, Entered slightly more north than usual , almost directly in front of the boat house, which kept entry in deeper water.
Usual gear up in carpark, follow the path down, head out to go right of the first channel marker then swing left toward the green channel marker. watch for boats as you will be shallow although rare for boats at night inside in the sanctuary.

Ricketts At Night

A night dive at Ricketts on a very nice calm night.
Despite my view that Ricketts at low tide is undiveable , on a nice calm night it provided a very nice muck dive.
Instead of heading out to the green pole we went right using the boat channel for additional depth, Vis was a good 20 meters with no surge, so it was all about the fish.
