Cottage by the Sea
First dive at Cottage by the Sea, a beach dive site just outside of Queenscliff.
This has to be one of the best beach entry sites in the bay, granted today conditions were near perfect, but the wide variety of life from blue devils to sea dragons and almost everything in between made it very interesting. (see maps and directions in read more section.)

Cottage by the Sea dive entry. Enter mear rocks and head straight out toward reef (darker patch near boat anchored).
Nice wall system runs the length with lots of overhangs with plenty of life. |
Dive Buddy: Simon Kay

Dive Time: 1.07
Depth 7.2 metres.

Entry where red dot is, best times appear to be when the heads have reached low tide. locals say the current can be very strong outside of this slack period. We must have been spot on as current was virtually nil for most of the dive only picking up toward the very end of the dive. |
|
The cottage by the sea camp the site is named after. turn off here from main road. |
|
Carpark at the end of the road from cottage by the sea camp, can get busy |
|
Short walk from carpark to top of steps, steps are not that bad, about the same as blairgowrie from top car park to beach. |
|
interesting fan growths |
|
vis was fantastic |
|
guy spear fishing from above. much better than the two divers using spears. but at least they complained they didn't get anything. |
