Ricketts Point Night Dive
Ricketts Point Night Dive
Nice easy dive at Ricketts Point, with Simon and Graeme, Entered slightly more north than usual , almost directly in front of the boat house, which kept entry in deeper water.Usual gear up in carpark, follow the path down, head out to go right of the first channel marker then swing left toward the green channel marker. watch for boats as you will be shallow although rare for boats at night inside in the sanctuary.

Sanctum Reef and RYE Pier
Sanctum Reef and Rye Pier
A great day of diving , very fitting for Australia Day weekend, Good Friends, outdoors and enjoyment. Sanctum Reef is a wall dive, one of my favorites, with a dive depth of 20-30 meters and a wall full of soft coral, colour and fish life. Todays dive conditions were simply great 15-20 vis, and very little swell.

Flinders Pier
Diving Flinders on a calm day one hour before high tide has been the best way of improving the vis odds. today was great.

Rye Pier
A nice summers day and Rye will look great as it did today, Simon, Lynne, Sharon as buddies and a great day to be had. usual, park in front of pier, gear up and go, use trolley if you don't like the long walk down the pier. First time sneaking out to the new reef, see photos.

Mornington pier
Mornington Pier
With Lynne and Craig, good dive on a very nice day under the pier.
Easy dive , entry via giant stride, ladder exit (or use ledge at start of pier
to drop gear for easier exit), stick to under pier and around outside rock wall, end of pier is now fishing free due to break in pier so improves dive and fish numbers. Didn't see any cuttle fish that can be found on the outside rock wall back toward shore.

Devils Drop Off
Devils Drop Off
A very nice part of the wall system in port phillip bay. shot line sits in 18m with a wall extending past 40 meters, great variety of fish , and plant life. Today vis was on of the best we have had on the wall, with a good slack water dive this was one of the easiest dives ever.
Buddies: Andrea and Lynne.

Sony RX100 1st dive
1st dive with Sony RX100 camera
This is the first dive with my new sony rx100. configuration is:
- Sony RX100
- Recsea Camera housing
- Ikelite Af35 flash
- (fitted sync cord cover to recsea as if to fit sync cord , and the flash still works without the sync cord using the af35 normal sensor , so a very nice neat setup for flash)
- Ikelite pro 2800 video lite
Bought the camera as the compact size , large sensor promised to be a just what i wanted in a camera.
Highly portable yet taking reasonable quality shots, with good dof etc.
The shots on land have been excellent and the shots from this first dive are outstanding (considering first dive and i am very much an amateur)
first things, the setup worked well, fits nicely in hand without being too big, (mounted video battery on bcd)
speed and ability to deal with low light was very good, although i did use flash for most, but had to dial down compared to s95 i used to use.)
Video was excellent (see sample at bottom) as was the ability to take a still during video recording), can see the difference the bigger sensor and 20 meg pixels vs 10 on s95 make.
Next is the i-dive fish eye and macro lens to try out.
Note: conditions at Blairgowrie were good , but still reasonable amount of silt in water
note some images more for camera than interesting.
